Hailee and Giuliana are not just besties they are also cousins. I had the pleasure of photographing these girls 3 years ago for Hailee's birthday so when I was asked to capture the closing of this chapter in their lives I was honoured. I caught up with these two beauties and their sister Moms in Victoria's China Town. It was a sunny hot day and I didn't want the girls melting too soon so we started in the shade of Dragon Alley. It seems a smart move to take a day well before Graduation to test out your hair and makeup and capture some moments without the time crunch of making it to ceremonies and parties. Much like their friendship the girls dresses complimented one another perfectly. Hailee's flawless make up was done by CJ at Sephora and her hair by Chatters. Giuliana was styled by the oh-so-talented Krista at Therapy Spa. As you might imagine we got a lot of attention from passers-by but this little cutie stole our show for a few minutes as we tried to get him to sit for a pic. Even the store owner from the eclectic tiny shop Blink got in on the action! Bumped into some friends who were in China Town for some Bubble Tea. So next stop...The Bubble Tea Bar- a first for these 2 beauties and we're loving the back of their gowns! Another first for these 2 was a visit to charming Fan Tan Alley, one of Victoria's most famous (and touristy) spots. With all the photos taken of them by intrigued strangers we're sure the girls will show up randomly on someone's vacation blog! With every great final product, in this case our photos, there is something or someone behind the scenes. On this day it was 2 Mothers, who are sisters and who were at the girls beckon call for making signs, arranging dresses and holding back the crowds so we could get the shot. You could feel the pride and love beaming from them all day and check this out...how much fun are they? We wanted to end our session with some images of Victoria's stunning coastline as the sun was starting to set. We drove out near the Chinese Cemetery for a clear view of the Olympic Mountains. We thought a change of shoes was best for the rocky shore. Heels to Converse in a flash! Hailee's Mom trekked out with an old black and white photo in her hand and wondered if we could take an emotional moment to look back on almost 18 years of friendship as the girls enter a new chapter of life. Hailee and Giuliana won't be too far away from one another though this Fall as both girls will be attending Camosun College! Hailee is enrolled in the Criminal Justice Program. Giuliana will be studying Exercise and Wellness. We wish you both nothing but success and happiness as you step forward girls! The beautiful women behind these lovely daughters. Mothers, sisters, cousins, friends. Thank you for allowing me to share in this day and this time in your lives xo
